Marriage incentive

Nirmal Mangar, TT, Gangtok, April 22: The state government has increased the incentive for inter-caste marriages from Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 this year, social welfare minister Tulsi Devi Rai said. 
"A couple will be eligible for the incentive only if they stay together for at least a year. They should have been married on or before March 1, 2002," an official said. Other than that, one of the spouse has to belong to SC category, he added. 
This year, the incentive has been given to 10 couples. 
"Around 200 couples have got the incentive since it was launched in 2002. Initially, it was Rs 5,000. In 2012, it was raised to 20,000," an official said
