JAP confirms HB Chhetri as its official candidate
KalimNews, Kalimpong, 8 March 2016: Confirming the candidature of Dr. Harka Bahadur Chhetri as JAP candidate JAP national bureau has issued a press release. It states about the announcement made by the President of Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) regarding the name of Dr Harka Bahadur Chettri, President of the Jana Andolan Party (JAP) as its candidate from Kalimpong constituency in the forthcoming State Assembly election.
Release confirms that JAP has got nothing to do with the announcement made by Trinamool Congress as mentioned above. This issue was never discussed in any forum of JAP including its highest policy and decision making body "National Bureau". JAP therefore, totally disagrees with the announcement made by Trinamool Congress and also seeks apology from the TMC for doing so without consulting the JAP and hurting the feelings of its esteemed party members and the people at large.
It further adds that JAP has already started its own internal inquiry into the entire incident that led to making of such announcement by the TMC. JAP is also examining various misleading and unfounded versions that have appeared in various newspapers and were telecast in TV channels. If anyone is found to have committed gross misconduct in the Party, JAP will have no hesitation in summarily expelling the concerned person from the Party.
National bureau of JAP adds that it will field its candidates from all the seats that it deems fit to contest both from the hills and the terai and plains land and will soon announce its candidates. JAP will also discuss the issue of seeking support from other political parties in course of time.
Furthermore it declared that if any JAP member contests election from any other political parties without its consent, such a member regardless of his/her status and position in the party will either be summarily expelled or will be asked to resign from the party.
