Giri sues Harka
Vivek Chhetri and Rajeev Ravidas, TT, Darjeeling, Feb. 3: Gorkha Janmukti Morcha general secretary Roshan Giri today filed a defamation suit of Rs 5 crore against Kalimpong MLA Harka Bahadur Chhetri at the civil judge (senior division) court in Darjeeling.
"On December 18, 2015, Harka Bahadur Chhetri had told the media that I had demanded a commission of 15 per cent from contractors assigned with building a polytechnic college in Kalimpong. He had also said it was told to him by Ujjal Biswas, the state technical education minister, in the Assembly," Giri said.
In December, Giri's lawyers had sent a notice to Chhetri asking him to apologise.
"Chhetri did not apologise ..., as we had demanded," Giri said.
Today, Chhetri said: "He (Giri) should be suing the minister. Not me."
