
Ten eminent personalities will be felicitated with on Republic Day
PRASHANT ACHARYA, EOI, Siliguri, 23 Jan 2016: Ten eminent personalities from various fields of North Bengal will be felicitated with laureate 'Ramlal Adhikari Smriti Samman 2016' on the republic day at Milan More, Champasari near Siliguri.
The felicitation is given year in memory of late Ramlal Adhikari an eminent literary personality of Darjeeling who served as professor head of Nepali department of Darjeeling government college since last year.
This year ten eminent personalities including Journalist, Social Worker, Environmentalist, Teacher, Dancer, Litterateur, Businessman, and people working on women empowerment and human trafficking.
Programme coordinator Prashant Acharya informed that the felicitation programme is organized by a NGO named 'Bagdogra Paradristhi Society' (BPS) in association with Rachana Boutique at Little Angel's School, Milan More, Champasari near Siliguri.
He said a five member selection committee decided to felicitate ten personalities who have dedicated their works for the betterment of the society and needy.
Rajiv Lochan Adhikari son of Ramlal Adhikari and president of BPS said, "We have decided to felicitate personalities working for the society and poor people after celebrating my father's birth anniversary that falls on 31st December. My father being a writer and poet always worked for the deprived people of the society and praised the people working for their benefits."
Ramlal Adhikari (1946-2005) was a gifted writer, poet, dramatist and journalist. He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2000 for ‘Nisansmaran’, a compilation of essays, the International Civil Golden Award and Ratnashree Award in Kathmandu, and the Sikkim Samman Puraskar and Sikkim Nirman Puraskar in 2005.
The organizing committee members have invited all to participate in the felicitation programme celebration Republic day too.
