Democratic Front raises anti-GJM pitch in Darj

HT, 25 November, DARJEELING: The Democratic Front (DF), a conglomeration of four political outfits from Darjeeling, has decided to rope in other organisations and individuals to build a strong opposition in the Hills. The exercise will start from December 7 from the memorial of slain All-India Gorkha League (AIGL) leader Madan Tamang.
The DF (constituting of representatives from the AIGL, Gorkha National Liberation Front, Communist Party of Revolutionary Marxist and the Darjeeling Sikkim Merger Front) has announced a public meeting on December 7 in front of Tamang’s memorial. Interestingly, on December 8, the high court is scheduled to give an order on the anticipatory bail petitions of the accused in the Madan Tamang murder case. A court on June 6 had issued arrest warrants after the CBI in its charge sheet indicted 23 GJM leaders, including chief Bimal Gurung, for the murder of AIGL president Madan Tamang.
