Youth Leader Quits Rai Association to form New Panel
SNS, Kurseong 15 October 2015: Former President and Secretary of All Indian Kirati Khmabu Rai (AIKKR) youth wing central Committee, Subu Rai resigned from the organisation and decided to fight for the interest of Khambu-Rai community under the banner of the recently formed Khambu Rai Sanyukt Yuva Manch (apex body).
Mr. Rai said in a press release that recently under the initiative of some of the central committee leadership of the AIKKR, the youth wing of their organisation was dissolved on 13 October in Darjeeling.
He informed that the AIKKRs central Committee had been formed with representatives from eight states of the country with 72 units, but during the meeting that decided to dissolve the youth wing, representatives of only 15-20 units were present.
" Hence we think that there is no need of youths in the AIKKR. That is why, we have (including former president Sushil Khambu Rai) resigned from the organisation and decided to carry forward the long pending demand under the banner of the recently formed Kahmbu Rai Sanyukt Manch ( Apex body)" Subu Rai said.
The central leadership of the AIKKR could not be reached for their comments, However it is learnt that on 13 October meeting, the organisation also had announced that they will not fight or support any development board for their community, and instead will continue their fight to achieve scheduled tribe status for their community under the constitution.
Although sources said that these rebel youths are in favour of development board for their community. Subu Rai denied the statement. he said that they are for their community and added that their recently formed organisation has neither discussed nor decided anything regarding the development board yet.
