Rural board notification
TT, Siliguri, Oct. 29: The state panchayat and rural development department has issued a gazette notification announcing the constitution of all bodies in the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad and instructed Darjeeling district administration to initiate the process of forming the boards in all three tiers.
The notification was issued yesterday by Arup Saha, the commissioner of the panchayat and rural development department, with names of all winning candidates.
Officials said the process of forming boards in all 27 rural bodies (22 panchayats, four panchayat samitis and the SMP) will have to be completed in the next 21 days. The administration will instruct the elected members of the three tiers to file nominations - for the posts of pradhans at the panchayats, sabhapatis at panchayat samitis and sabhadhipatis at the mahakuma parishads. The administration will also announce the last date to withdraw candidature and date of the first meeting of the new board.
The SMP poll results were announced on October 7.
