Minor foils ‘rape’ bid, stabbed

Pinak Priya Bhattacharya,TNN | Oct 5, 2015, ALIPURDUAR: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly stabbed by her 24-year-old neighbour when she resisted the latter's attempt to rape her on Sunday night. The girl is fighting for her life at the Alipuduar district hospital. Police has launched a manhunt for the accused. 

According to police the girl just reached home after fetching water from a nearby tank in Khattopara. It was around 8 p.m. The girl heard the pet dog barking at the backside of her house. She went out to check what exactly made the dog bark. Tapas Adhikari, who lives next door pounced on her suddenly and tried to rape her. 

The girl fought back and tried to free herself from the clutches of Adhikari. This enraged the youth and he stabbed the girl with a knife he was carrying with and fled. By now neigbhours and family members who heard the girl's cry for help rushed. The girl managed to narrate her horror story. She was rushed first to the block hospital from shere she was shifted to the district hospital Doctors said the girl has sustained stab injury in her throat and her condition is critical.
