India-China joint military exercise begins
EOI, SUKNA, 12 Oct 2015: The fifth joint military exercise between India and China, Hand-in-Hand 2015, commenced today at Kunming Military Academy in Yunan Province, China.
The twelve-day exercise will lay emphasis on joint handling of insurgency, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
The inaugural function put up demonstrations of skills by personnel of the two sides, the two largest armies of the world, including display of weapons and equipment used at the sub-unit levels. The Indian contingent enthralled the audience by a yoga display followed by the vibrant and energetic tribal dance of Nagaland.
The show ended with a display of unarmed combat skills by Indian army personnel. The inaugural function was attended by Lieutenant General Surinder Singh, Corps Commander, Trishakti Corps, along with senior officers of China’s People’s Liberation Army. Singh noted such events are building blocks for fostering mutual trust and confidence between the two great nations.
