
Darjeeling DF plans rallies after Diwali
SNS, Darjeeling 27 October: The Democratic Front (DF) a conglomeration of four political parties in the Darjeeling hills plan on holding a public meeting in all the three subdivisions of the Hills after the Diwali festivities are over, DF convener Pratap Khati said here today.
According to him , the Front is presently working on seeking permission from authorities concerned to hold the said meeting.
“Although we have planned on organisinga public meet in all the three sub-divisions of the Darjeeling hills, we want to hold the rally in Darjeeling town first, “ Mr. Khati said.
“We will talk about the present situation and also about democracy in the hills in the meetings,” he added.
Likewise, Amar Rai, former president of Hill Employees Association, formerly backed by the Gorkha National Liberation front (GNLF), who has recently made an announcement of floating a new political party in Darjeeling, named Parbartya Prajatantrik Party (PPP), said that once PPP gets its registered with the Election Commission of India, they will also organize a public meeting in Darjeeling.
It may be mentioned that leaders of the Hill Trinamul Congress (TMC) had earlier sad that chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is likely to visit the Darjeeling Hills during the first week of November and address a TMC meeting in Kalimpong.
