Annual meeting of AIWC held in Kalimpong

Sweta N. Pradhan, KalimNews, Kalimpong 20.09.2015: The fourth AGM of the All India Women's Conference (AIWC) was held today at Himali Guest in Kalimpong.
In the annual general meeting held today along with its general members member representatives of its constituent branches of Rambi, and Mungpoo also were present.  
Beside the discussion on the regular organisational matter the Secretary Aruna Pradhan and Treasurer Sandhya Huang presented their annual reports in the meeting.
In the meeting it adopted Village Poshyor as its targeted area. It was also reminded that it has its branches in Rambi, Pedong and Mungpoo and now it is eligible for full branch status and has applied for it.
The AIWC was started by some Irish nuns during Pre-Independent India for the upliftment of women and resulted in some sort of a social conference resulting to which the name stays loyal.
Founded in 1927 by Margaret Cousins and registered in 1930 under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1850 this organisation is dedicated to the upliftment and betterment of women and children. 
Over the years, it has grown and spread all over India. Members across the country carry on the work zealously with selfless dedication. 

AIWC is recognized in the world over as a premier organization working for empowerment of women. 

AIWC re-established on 16th March,2011 in Kalimpong presently has two projects under their belt -Spreading legal awareness campaigns and their pet project - "Anemia free society" campaigns. AIWC (Akhil Bharatiya Mahila Sammelan) Kalimpong is now eligible to be a full branch and have applied for a full branch status.

The other office bearers of the AIWC are Yuden Pempa Hissey, President two Vice Presidents -Jyotinanda Sinha and Ranu Dewan, two Joint Secretaries Catherine Pradhan Lobo and Mala Rana and the Joint Treasurer Chinlien Saini.
