Siliguri police commissioner Manoj Verma today held a meeting with hoteliers and guest house and home stay owners to alert them of this fact and asked them to remain wary when renting out rooms to customers. Using a power point presentation, Verma showed how large inflows of outsiders can undermine security in town.
He urged the hoteliers to maintain their guest registers properly and to submit them regularly at the nearest police station.
The hoteliers said installing CCTV cameras inside the hotels and in the parking lots and lobbies has become necessary. Deputy police commissioner (Siliguri detective department) Tapan Alo Mitra and deputy police commissioner (Traffic) Shyam Singh were present at the meeting, among other officers.
