CID to investigate TET question paper fiasco
Sources in the state government said that they had handed over the investigation to the CID after they found discrepancies in the statement of various officers, involved in the examination process.
With the elections of three civic bodies - Asansol, Bidhannagar and Siliguri Mahakama Parishad - scheduled on 3 October along with by-elections in 341 gram panchayats, 72 panchayat samities and two zilla parishads, the state education department has decided to postpone the primary TET examination further from 4 October.
It will convene a meeting on Monday to decide on the new date for the examination.
The poll date had already been finalised by the state government in consultation with the State Election Commission (SEC) and the notification is scheduled to be issued in the month of September.
As the officials of the education department has not consulted the state government in finalising the date of the primary TET examination, the education department had to again postpone the date of the examination.
With frequent changes in the examination dates, the TET aspirants are confused as to whether they would at all be given an opportunity to sit for the examination.
However, the committee that has been formed to look into the TET fiasco is yet to submit any report to the state education minister.
Over 23 lakh aspirants were scheduled to take the primary TET on Sunday in 5,200 centres across Bengal.
On Thursday, a set of question papers went missing from a bus near Dankuni. The policemen guarding the bus apparently noticed that a window of the bus was broken and they alerted the officials of the state primary education board, which is conducting the examination. The latter, upon examining the consignment, found a set of question papers missing.
