Judge arrested from Darjeeling

TNN | Jun 1, 2015, WEST MIDNAPORE: Police of West Mindapre district arrested one sitting judge of Garbeta Additional Chief Judicial Magistarte court on Saturday allegedly for not paying alimony to his wife. He was arrested on the basis of a issued by Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Darjeeling court seven days before. 

Civil Judge (Junior Division) cum 1st class second court Sclem Namchoo was arrested from Pradhan Nagar police station area on Saturday night. "We received a direction from Darjeeling court that he should be arrested because his wife has complained that Namchoo was not giving her the alimony as directed by the court. Namchoo's wife filed a divorce suit complaining that Namchoo physically and mentally tortured her," SP of West Midnapore, Bharati Ghosh said. 

Accordingly Garbeta police contacted and told him about the matter but Namchoo after that switched off his mobile and took a leave. "Police was sent to Darjeeling as we will have to comply by the order. It was found that he was using a separate SIM card and tracking his cell phone we could get hold of him," Ghosh said. 

He has been produced at Darjeeling court and he has been given a judicial custody of two days, police said.
