3 Darjeeling youths beaten in Gurgaon, 5 arrested

KalimNews, Gurgaon, updated 19 May 2015: Three youth of Darjeeling hills were beaten up brutally and seriously injured by some people in Gurgaon. One of the injured is admitted in Trauma centre of AIIMS.
The victims are from Takdah Teesta Valley region of Darjeeling and use to work as staff at city guest houses and canteens.
Abhishek Rai 20, Sagar Rai 22 shared an accommodation in a room in Nathupur village of DLF III, Gurgaon.
Last Saturday their friend Deo Kumar Subba 23 was invited to their room for a weekend programme. At about 10.30 pm in the night Deo kumar accidentally broke a tumbler and while throwing it to the dustbin some pieces fell off their window and hit a neighbor in the down stairs.
The three friends apologized to the landlord and the the person who was hit by the broken piece and there was minor altercation with the Landlords son over the matter.
The other version states that on throwing the broken tumbler the dustbin also was broken and there was an altercation with the Landlord's son. Another version also states that the altercation with the Land lord's son started about the loud music the three youth were playing in their room.
After some time the Landlords son Naresh barged into their room with 20 of his friends and the three were beaten mercilessly with rods, sticks, chains and left them injured in their room.

The injured somehow managed to contact some friends of North East Students Association and were admitted in AIIMS.
Sagar Rai suffers serious head and cut injury and is admitted in Trauma centre of AIIMS. Other two also has injury all over their body and had first aid. But they were denied admission in Safderjung Road hospital.

An FIR is lodged with the help of Kiran Biswakarma, Sachin Rai and other Gorkhas of Delhi.

It is also alleged that DLF II police station denied to accept the FIR submitted by the victim. Later when SS Ahluwalia MP, Robin Hibu Jt Commissioner of Delhi Police and Linda Newmai of the BJP NE Cell approached Gurgaon Police Commissioner S Navdeep Singh Virk, it was registered there
Mathew, a member of North East student's association alleged that cops did not cooperate and help the victims to immediate medical aid.
Later the police recorded the statement of the victims and started a case. According to Deepak Saharani DCP, NE Nodal Officer Gurgaon 5 persons are arrested under section 147,148,149,323,506,452 IPC by DLF Phase 2 Gurgaon police station vide FIR NO.250 of 19th May 2015.Police claimed that it is no case of hate crime but a drunken brawl that turned serious. However, some said that the group of attacker threatened to send the three youths to China if they didn't leave.
Meanwhile police has arrested five and stated that the rest will also be nabbed. The accused arrested in the case are Naresh Gujjar son of Billu Gujjar (Landlord), Rampal Yadav son of Devisingh Yadav resident of sorti Bhagwantpur, Sambhal UP, Gaurav Pandit son of Girender Pandit resident of Farhadpur, Hardoi UP, Bhure Singh Khuswaha son of Ransingh Khuswaha resident of Mubarkpur, Sambhal UP and Balram Gupta son of Harilal Gupta resident of Tekwataar, Ramrola UP. All were presently residing in Nathupur.

Members of GJYM Delhi branch, Arnova, Munrika Youth brigade, NESA and others took initiative for the treatment of the injured and arrest of the culprits. Specially the effort of Robin Hibu JT Commissioner of police and SS Ahluwalia MP, Darjeeling forced the police to take immediate action, said Sachin Rai. Presence and continuous approach of local Gorkhas representing different social organisations and political parties also comforted the victims and drew attention of the media and concerned authorities, said Kiran Biswakarma.

Meanwhile, CPRM Delhi branch has written a letter to the Prime Minister with a demand to look into the matter and arrange for safety of the North East people. Uttam Chhetri President of Delhi Branch has also demanded to take strong judiciary action against the culprits.
Gorkha Janmukti Morcha also has condemned the act and trying to make arrangement for the treatment of the injured.Different Gorkha organisations has demanded stringent and punitive action against the erring police officers who refused to register the case.
The case is regarded as a heinous act of racism and discrimination against North East people. Inviting all North East people some Gorkha organistaions have called for a sit in demonstration and rally at 9.30 am in Sahara Malls Gurgaon on Wednesday. It has condemned the attack and blamed the police for trying to wrap up the case by supporting the accused.
The group has expressed its strong resentment stating that the cases filed against the culprits are weak and bailable. It has demanded to book the accused under section 307 (attempt to murder).
