Rape case

TT, Darjeeling, April 1: A special court today sentenced a youth to life imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 on him for repeatedly raping his 17-year-old sister-in-law.

The court trying cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, awarded the life imprisonment to Sandipan Roy, 38, who hailed from the outskirts of Siliguri.

Pranay Rai, the public prosecutor, said: "Santanu Mishra, additional session judge (2nd court), sentenced Sandipan to life imprisonment and imposed a fine Rs 50,000 on him for raping wife's sister."
