WB Assembly to become India's first Wi-Fi House
PTI | Kolkata, 20 February, 2015: The West Bengal Assembly is now making a move to become the country's first Assembly with Wi-Fi facilities.
"With this perhaps West Bengal Assembly will be the first Wi-Fi House in the country. This is most essential with the advancement of latest communication technology," state Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee told reporters here today.
"We have taken this decision. Modalities about the implementation of Wi-Fi will be finalised soon," he said.
Meanwhile, works were in progress to digitise all records in the state Assembly, the Speaker said, adding the members would be immensely benefited with the completion of the entire process.
On February 5, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had launched the 'Jionet' brand Wi-Fi services from Park Street in an effort to turn Kolkata into a Wi-Fi city.
