Kailash Manasarovar Yatra via Sikkim to start from June
EOI, GANGTOK, 3 Feb 2015: The Kailash Manasarovar Yatra via Sikkim through Nathula would commence from June this year and the yatras for the year would end in September, says a Press release issued by the State Government on Tuesday. The details were worked out in detail in a meeting in Beijing on January 31.
But, because of “insufficient and inadequate infrastructure on both sides,” in the current year only four batches comprising 50 yatris, five supporting staff and a nodal officer would be allowed.
The Sikkim government had been given the responsibility of putting in place all the required infrastructure, though short term for the current year in terms of transport, accommodation, medical facility, acclimatization centres.
The date for the first batch wold be known after confirmation from the Union ministry of external affairs. The MEA would ahave to invite applications from interested candidates for the yatra.
