NBSTC doing better, says Sen
SNS, Siliguri, 9 January 2015: INTTUC president Dola Sen today said the North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC) has improved and that it is performing a lot better now.
Ms Sen today held a meeting with INTTUC activists of the NBSTC here.
"I met the INTTUC activists today, and so far, the NBSTC has increased its services and the number of buses. Our motto is to save the industry and save labourers. Efforts are being made so that the NBSTC can earn profits," Ms Sen after the meeting.
"However, the corruption cases that surfaced during the tenure of the previous state government are still having their effects on the corporation," she added.
Ms Sen said they will meet the NBSTC managing director, Subal Chandra Roy, in Cooch Behar on 21 January.
Meanwhile, reiterating her stand, she slammed the stance of the Joint Forum, a conglomeration of 24 trade unions that is fighting for implementation of the Minimum Wages Act for tea garden workers.
"The Joint Forum is not representing the tea workers. They will be forced to accept the state government’s proposal on the minimum wages. There will be a tripartite meeting over the issue later this month," she said.
