
Darjeeling band wins the Hornbill International Rock Contest 2014
EOI, DARJEELING, 9 Dec 2014: Adams Apple, a band from Darjeeling, has emerged as the winner of Hornbill International Rock Contest, 2014 walking away with a grand cash prize of 1 million rupees.
Meanwhile, Nightmares from Sikkim secured the second position and Muses of Authority from Siliguri, were adjudged third who received Rs 5 lakh and Rs 3 lakh respectively.
The rock contest is part of the annual Hornbill Festival in Nagaland which was judged by a panel comprising legendary American guitarist Vinnie Moore from the band UFO, along with Indian musical maestros Sanjay Divicha, Thejove Medeo and Wati Imchen.
The 2014 edition of the famed Hornbill International Rock Contest concluded last night, with the top three honours going to rock bands from Darjeeling, Sikkim and Siliguri.
The contest judged by legendary American guitarist Vinnie Moore from the international rock band UFO, was won by 'Adams Apple' from Darjeeling, while 'Nightmares' from Sikkim took the second position and 'Muses of Authority' from Siliguri secured the third position.
The winning band walked away with the grand prize of Rs.10 lakh, while 'Nightmares' and 'Muses of Authority' pocketed Rs.5 lakh and Rs.3 lakh respectively.
The judges of the contest also included Indian rock masters Sanjay Divicha, Thejove Medeo and Wati Imchen along with Moore.
The week-long contest ended today at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima amid thousands of cheering fans. Other finalists at the contest included Hidden Truth (Kolkata), Silver (Pune), Technicolors (Nagaland), Chrome O Soul (Chennai), The Family Cheese (Mumbai), and The Doppler Effect (Delhi).
