90% deprived of human rights in bengal: AHRS

SNS, Kolkata, 11 December: The Asian Human Rights Society (AHRS) claimed that 90 per cent of people in the state are deprived of human rights and victim of corruption.
In a meeting at Esplanade, Mr Sadik Hosen, General Secretary of AHRS, quoted Supreme Court order and said that between 70 and 75 percent leaders were either corrupt or criminal and they have criminal cases against them.
Mr Sadik Hosen also said that West Bengal is among the top states when it came to crime against women and children.
He said that now it was time to take action against such corruption and violation of human rights.
He said that "human rights" of common people is the responsibility of the President, the Prime Minister and chief ministers of states.
