Chamling against petty politics
SNS, Gangtok, 23 November 2014: The second session of the ninth Assembly came to an end with a vote of thanks presented by chief minister and the leader of the house Pawan Chamling today.
Mr Chamling called on members of both the ruling and the opposition parties to adhere to democratic practices by keeping aside one's party affiliation.
“People have put their faith on all the elected representatives with a hope that their dreams, desires and aspirations will be fulfiled, hence it is the duty of each of the elected representatives to be sincere and keep the people of Sikkim and their interest foremost and work with utmost sincerity and integrity towards their overall development,” the CM said.
“Indulging in petty politics during the session will only gobble up precious time, hence it is important that the session hours be used only for constructive discussions,” he added.
The CM reiterated the importance of capacity building among the youths in order to create a high-skilled human resource within the state
The day also saw the passing of three new bills during the legislative business and First Supplementary Demands for Grants 2014-15.
The three bills and the First Supplementary Demands for Grants 2014-15 were introduced in the house on Friday. The Sikkim Appropriation Bill, Bill No 13 of the current year was also passed today.
Elaborating on the Sikkim Organic Mission, the CM said the programme is to adopt organic farming-cum-parmaculture. “Parmaculture protects the ecology and helps in ecological engineering. This is a mission to protect the environment and the entire ecology,” he said.
Before adjourning the house sine- die, Speaker K.N. Rai presented the annual reports of various government departments.
