Resorts raided in Jalpaiguri, 12 arrested on flesh trade charges

EOI, Jalpaiguri, 29 Oct 2014: The Jalpaiguri police on Tuesday night raided two resorts in the Gachabari area of Dhupguri and arrested 12 people including three women for alleged involvement in flesh trade. The resorts had been under police radar ever since information started coming from sources about suspicious activities inside them.
A team led by Japaiguri SP Kunal Aggarwal raided the resorts and arrested three women, four men and five resort officials. The accused have been slapped with prostitution charges. Among those arrested are Deepak Kumar from Siliguri and Asish Ranjan, Aditya Jyoti and Nirman Bedant from Kathiyar, Bihar. Aggarwal said, “We have been receiving information about such activities from some resorts in the area. Hence we raided the two resorts last night and arrested 12 people.”
The accused were shifted to the Mateli police station on Tuesday night and on Wednesday presented before the district court, which sent them to police custody. Aggarwal said there are more places in the area where such activities have been reported. “We will continue to conduct raids and clamp down on the flesh trade flourishing in the area,” he vowed.
