Forward Bloc to stage agitation in Jalpaiguri from today onwards

PTI, EOI, Jalpaiguri 19 October 2014: Forward Bloc is to stage an agitation  to show disagreement against the idea of merging a certain area of the Jalpaiguri division with Siliguri and many other issues from Monday . To strengthen the agitation further, the Forward Bloc has called upon the Uttarbanga Unnayan Andolan Samanwai Committee under whose aegis a general meeting will be observed today at the Rabindra Bhavan to discuss on the course of the agitation and the issues that prompted it. The meeting will be summoned by Devbrata Biswas, National General Secretary, Forward Bloc who along with many other committee officials shall prepare an outline of the agitation.

According to the committee’s ex MLA Gobinda Rai, the main objective of the agitation is to demand for the construction of proposed North Bengal AIIMS in Jalpaiguri, Kolkata High Court circuit bench be set up in Jalpaiguri immediately, and also to criticize the concept of merging some areas of Rajganj block with Siliguri. “Apart from Jalpaiguri, we shall also stage protest in Kadamtala which will be participated by 7 other MLAs of the Forward Block” Rai said.
