Tea strike hint

TT, Jalpaiguri, Sept. 28: Twenty-six tea trade unions have said they would go on an industry strike and a general strike in November if no decisions are taken on wage revision.
“On October 13, workers of the Dooars, Terai and Darjeeling will abstain from work,” Chitta Dey, convenor of Co-ordination Committee of Tea Plantation Workers, said. Ziaur Alam, Jalpaiguri district Citu secretary, said if no decision is taken by November, an industry strike will be held on November 11 and 12 and a general strike on November 12.”
