SKM in VIP car beacon protest
SNS, Gangtok, 2 September: All the 10 MLAs of the Opposition Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) have decided to use the red beacon in their vehicles from now on, according to the party president, PS Golay.
Golay was talking to reporters yesterday after the day-long Assembly session.
“This decision is a mark of protest, as the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) government is violating the Supreme Court order and also its own notifications on who all are entitled to use the beacons in their vehicles,” Mr Golay said.
According to him, even nominated chairpersons of the SDF have been using the VIP lights by violating the order of the Supreme Court.
"We are protesting the violation of the Supreme Court order by the state government and will use the lights ourselves," Mr Golay said.
