
AAGSU City unit assumes office: Get-Together at Gauhati Commerce College
PR, KalimNews, Guwahati 24th Sept. 2014: Guwahati City Gorkha Students’ Union (GCGSU) city committee of the All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU) the influential apex students and youth organization of the Gorkhas of Assam took charge from Tuesday. After being administered oath of office and secrecy by former publicity secretary and executive membe rand Senior Leader AAGSU AAGSU Nanda Kirati Dewan, in a meeting held at Gorkha High School followed by a Leadership training program to the newly inducted office bearers, college and university representatives and executive members, the charge was taken over.
The City unit of AAGSU comprises of students from 16 colleges and 5 universities and Gorkha Youths of Guwahati. Santosh Powdel and Resham Parajuly have been unanimously elected as president and general secretary earlier this month in an extended delegate session of Greater Guwahati Gorkha Students’ Union. Suma Rai, Bikash Acharya, Amit Powrel have been elected vice presidents while Priyanka Chettri of Handique Girls College, Sanjiv Dahal of IDOL and Ramesh Rimal of SMU elected as Asstt. General Secretaries. Karan Chhetry of GU and Nirmala Thakuri of IDOL will be the organizing secretary.
Others include Parishma Limboo of Cotton College State University as Educati overon Secretray, Puja Gowdel of Gauhati Commerce College as Cultural Secretary and Tinku Poudel of MIIT as Publicity Secretary. Roshan Gurung UPSC aspirant and former president of Gauhati University Gorkha Students’ Union as its advisor along with SKamal Pradhan, Ramesh Bastola and Santosh Acharya.
All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union , Guwahati City Committee has extended support to Meenakshi Khanal, Gorkha Sister who is a Vice President candidate at the Cotton College Students Union elections.
AAGSU’s senior leader Nanda Kirati Dewan who will be mentoring and monitoring the Guwahati City Gorkha Students’ Union said this city unit of AAGSU practically comprises of students and youths in Guwahati who are here for their education and employment besides the native youths. It will address their issues and concerns and unitedly as a union find ways and means to solve them and resolve to share and care through get-togethers, seminars and city committee of the All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union executive meetings and youth festivals.
After assuming office on Wednesday, Resham Sharma General Secretary said, ‘As GCGSU’s 1st initiative,we will organize a RAMAILO BHETGHAT ‘GET-TOGETHER’ at Guwahati Commerce College on 19th Oct 2014 and participate in Guwahati University Gorkha Students’ Union annual get-together on 18th Oct. Our meeting resolved to hold series of leadership and career guidance seminars and general awareness conferences to ---connect Gorkhas of the city followed by formation of college units of AAGSU.’
