Five Kalimpong lads to participate in Airtel Hyderabad Marathon

EOI, Siliguri, 22 August 2014: Bearing the legend – ‘We are Gorkhas and Proud to be Indian’ – five marathoners from Kalimpong will run in Hyderabad on August 24 at the fourth edition of the Airtel Hyderabad Marathon.
The ‘Run with Roshni' team includes Ranjeet Rai, Patrus Sadalingdingmu Lepcha, Uttam Bhujel, Kamal Thapa and Runesh Tamang. Runesh will run the full marathon comprising 42km, while the remaining will attempt the 21km version.
Roshni Rai, who founded the Run with Roshni Project, said she had given opportunity to all runners from the Darjeeling hills in participating at the national level marathons, but lack of coordination and communication played spoilsport and only runners from Kalimpong could be chosen this time.
“Darjeeling has received enough deceased bodies of her sons with India’s flag on their chests, and now she should start receiving sons with the tricolour sailing in victory across their shoulders,” said Roshni.
