CM to meet Singapore PM

TT, Calcutta, Aug. 14: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee will meet Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and foreign minister K. Shanmugam during her trip to the country beginning on this Sunday.
“She will meet the Prime Minister and the foreign minister. The foreign minister had invited her…. Sustained relations with the country is what she seeks and she is going to create avenues for that,” Bengal finance and industries minister Amit Mitra told a news conference at Nabanna today.
The minister said a battery of bureaucrats and a “high-level” business delegation would accompany Mamata. “Besides the chief secretary, the officials going with her are those relevant to investment discussions…. A member of Parliament will be in the team.”
Sources in Nabanna said the MP likely to travel with the chief minister was Dev, who was “handpicked” by Mamata.
“Several industry captains from the state will be going with her — out of their own initiative, footing their own expenses,” Mitra said.
The minister mentioned energy, real estate, hospitality, civil aviation and health care among the sectors where the Bengal government would seek strategic and investment partnerships.
