Sikkim to mark World Photography Day with exhibition, workshop

EOI, Gangtok, 3 July 2014: Vividh Kala Academy will celebrate World Photography Day in collaboration with Vichar Kala Sangam and the Press Club of Sikkim by showcasing a photo exhibition and workshop here in the capital.
Kiran Rasaily of Vividh Kala Academy said the workshop-cum-exhibition will continue for six days from August 19 to 26 at the BL House to mark 175 years since photography was invented.
He added, “Renowned photographer Ashok Dilawali, who has worked extensively in the Himalayan region, will be conducting the workshop for young aspiring photographers on digital photography. The workshop will be a medium to help aspiring photographers to promote their passion further and it will be free of charge.”
This year’s World Photography Day will pay tributes to renowned Chinese photographer Twan Yang, who was based in Sikkim. Vividh Kala Academy has been organising exhibitions on World Photography Day since the last three years.
