Man slashes wife's throat, stabs self

Man slits wife's throat, injures himself in DelhiTNN | Jul 13, 2014, NEW DELHI: A man from Darjeeling slashed his wife's throat and stabbed himself after an argument in south Delhi's Munirka are on Sunday. They have been admitted to AIIMS and are said to be out of danger.

The incident was reported from near the DDA flats in Munirka where Kripa (35)and her husband Ram Kumar (38) live in a rented accommodation. Ram Kumar works as a driver while Kripa works as a cook. Locals said the two fought over petty issues often.

On Sunday afternoon, Kumar came home for lunch, during which he had an argument with his wife. In the evening, the couple again fought over the same issue, during which Kumar picked up a knife from the kitchen and slit Kripa's throat and stabbed himself.

The incident came to light when their relative, who lives in the same locality, found the two lying in a pool of blood.

The couple was rushed to AIIMS trauma centre where the doctors treated them. Doctors said Kripa will have to undergo a minor surgery to have her wounds stitched.

Senior police officials added that a case of attempt to murder under section 307 IPC has been registered against Ram Kumar and he will be arrested once he is released from the hospital. Police are also questioning the couple's neighbours to find out what had led to the argument. Their family members are also being questioned to ascertain whether there was a dowry angle in the incident.
