Mamata reaches Siliguri on 3-day trip of North Bengal
Speaking to the press at the airport, she said a separate labour department will be set up in Siliguri at an investment of Rs7 crore. The state government is also making arrangements to start the 100-days project at the closed tea estates through local panchayats.
The state government has also approached the Centre for reviving the closed tea estates and will spend Rs250 crore for a safari park near Shoria Park in Salugara, added the chief minister. Her government has allotted Rs200 crore for reopening the closed tea gardens of Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar, she added.
North Bengal Development Department minister Gautam Deb, Siliguri MLA Dr. Rudranath Bhattacharya and Siliguri police commissioner Jag Mohan were present at the airport to receive the chief minister who was accompanied by state Panchayat minister Subrata Mukherjee.
