SNS, Kurseong, 30 July 2014: Chief of the Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF), Subash Ghisingh, is likely to spend some more days in Siliguri due to his health problems.
Mr Ghisingh, an octogenarian, is not keeping too well, and he went to the plains on 25 July, it is learnt.
GNLF sources, however, said that besides a “little problem on his legs,” Mr Ghisingh is “absolutely healthy” and that he will return to his residence on Dr Zakir Hussain Road in Darjeeling after spending some more days in Siliguri.
It is learnt that Mr Ghisingh’s legs have swollen due to the cold weather in Darjeeling. Some GNLF leaders believe that it is better for him to stay for some time in the warm climate of the plains.
It may be mentioned that the former Darjeeling strongman had spent several years in the plains following his departure from Darjeeling in 2008 when the Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha emerged as a major party in the Hills.
Notably, on 20 July too, Mr Ghisingh had clandestinely left Darjeeling, which led to various speculations among the hill populace, while media reports said he left Darjeeling due to ‘political pressure.’
GNLF activists and supporters were a disappointed lot then, but much to their joy, the party chief returned to Darjeeling after spending two nights in a hotel at Bagdogra near Siliguri.
