CPM to demand early municipal election
EOI, Siliguri, 17 July 2014: CPM supporters led by Left Front convener Ashok Bhattacharya will soon launch a movement demanding early elections to the Siliguri municipality. Bhattacharya said they will demonstrate Friday in front of the SMC office in this regard. He announced this at a press conference at the district party office on Hill Cart Road.
The convener also noted the replacement of former state election commissioner Meera Pandey was unethical. He claimed the TMC government took this step for its own vested interest and expressed his reservations over the capability of the new commissioner. Bhattacharya also noted the flyover at the Mahabirsthan area leading to SF Road is being repainted despite the announcement it will be dismantled soon. He said this is sheer waste of the taxpayer's money.
