8 Unexplored Facts that make Narendra Modi Popular Among Indian Youth
Madhupurna Roy Sukul, TIR: Okay so I agree that our new PM is already a hot topic and a lot has been spoken of him, while Mr. Modi still continues to be in the limelight with the 125 crore eyes on him mainly that 65% of the Indian population, which we call the “youth” of India.
We all know by now that he has inspired the young population of India so well with his path-breaking thoughts and developmental plans for the country, that his party registered a historic win in 2014 assembly elections. We also know why he is such a popular figure among the youth; however, there are a few more aspects that have not been spoken much and which makes him a youth icon. Apart from the promises to take care of the job scenario to his addresses on technology, there is a lot to our Mr. PM that makes him most favored.
No one, in the recent times matches his oratory skills except when compared to the legendary Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Yes, of course he doesn’t match the “speech-making” capability of Mr. Bajpayee as stated by Uma Bharti earlier this year, but what sets him apart from Mr. Vajpayee is his approach, which is more in a conversational mode with the audience. His casual connection with the crowd is what makes him such a craze;
His radical thoughts and novel approach towards youth development and their issues is another appeal. Apart from the obvious issues like joblessness or the safety demands, he remains connected to the youth via social media such as, Facebook, Twitter. From his Google Big Tent Activate Summit 2013 to cabinet note submission orders in PDF format or the encouragement to his party members to be a selfie in technology, he has really changed the old world concept of an Indian Prime Minister;
Remember this poster of Mr. Modi with his laptop?
Narendra Modi’s message to the youth and the countrymen to quit smoking citing the ill effects it may cause, his encouragement during the 150th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda to spread his message among the youth, his proposals of IITs & IIMS in each state, his vision on skill development of the younger crowd or constituting a younger Cabinet went down extremely well with the country of 814 million young voters.
In one of his interviews with a television news channel, he had stated how he keeps himself fit with regular yoga, starting his day as early as 5am in the morning and his healthy dietary habits are some of the enlightening aspects for the Indian youth today who wants to follow their icon;
His message during an address at Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University to those students who complete graduation but have no jobs, was to have self belief and self motivation to rise above the situation and prove themselves with their skills and not just education. He wants the Indian youth to be self powered to move India towards development;
His visions on a more technology based India with ideas such as, setting up of National Optical-Fiber Network to the extent of village, with facilities of “bullet train”, to be as progressive to compete China in technology and US in exports, ideas on setting up of National Youth Advisory Council and initiating programmes related to “youth on development” only added to the faith in Narendra Modi among Indian youth;
Washington Post recently tagging our honorable Prime Minister ‘the fashion icon’ was among a pleasant surprise for the Indian citizens. Apart from his Kurtas symbolizing Indian values, his Bulgari sunglasses & Movado watch giving off a western touch and an impressively clean cut appearance in all his national or international visits takes him to the level where he represents the young India;
Oh! And did we forget mentioning what Mr. PM carried while shifting his base to the 7 Race Course? His most precious possessions: his laptop, iPod and Tab!
