
Pramod Giri to receive Excellence Award in Journalism and Dr. Sunil Kaul the ‘Kaleybungratna Puraskar’

KalimNews, Siliguri, 15 May 2014: The Kalimpong Press Club has decided to confer the sixth ‘Kaleybungratna Puraskar’ to Dr. Sunil Kaul a senior research scientist of AIST Japan. Dr Kaul is a son of Kalimpong working in Japan since more than a decade.
On the occasion Pramod Giri, principal correspondent of the Hindustan Times will also be conferred with the Excellence Award in Journalism.
Giri is the president of the Siliguri Journalists’ Club for the second term who has been working as a journalist since the last 18 years and started his career by working as a reporter for Sunchari Samachar, a renowned Nepali daily that used to be published from Siliguri. He was also associated with Asian Age.
The KPC will felicitate Dr. Kaul and Giri on May 23 at the Ramakrishna Rangamancha in Kalimpong as the club marks its 16th foundation day.

Devulapalli Amar, secretary general of the New Delhi-based Indian Journalists’ Union, will be the chief guest at the programme, while the guests of honour will be Bodoland Territorial Council deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary and Gorkhaland Territorial Administration deputy chairman Dr. Lobsang Lama.
SJC secretary Angshuman Chakraborty said, “We all are proud to hear our club’s president will be awarded with the ‘Kaleybungratna Puraskar’ and he deserves the award as he has been serving society through journalism over the last 18 years. (Inputs from EOI)
