Huge amount of adulterated cement seized, 3 arrested

UJJAL BHATTACHARYYA, EOI, Siliguri, 12 May 2014: In a raid conducted at a cement storage facility in Kamragaguri area near Fulbari this afternoon, the NJP outpost crime branch police confiscated 700 sacks of adulterated cements, a mini-truck and some machineries used in packing the sacks. Three have been apprehended from the spot including the storage owner Swapan Ghosh.

Police sources said the accused used to pack low quality cement in the packets of a reputed cement brand and supply them to the market. Siliguri deputy police commissioner (HQ) OG Pal said each of the sacks contains cement weighing 50 kg.
