Pawan Chamling lauds Sikkim-Darjeeling ties
SNS, Gangtok, 31 March 2014: Sikkim Democratic Front President and Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling today said Sikkim and Darjeeling share an ‘exclusive’ relationship, ‘of blood and brotherhood.’
Mr Chamling was speaking in a meeting in Rangpo where he arrived today as part of his tour of the state for election campaigning.
“Both the regions work on mutual cooperation in every aspect,” he said. He added that Sikkim had moved the Gorkhaland Bill in the state Assembly a few years ago, which was a ‘bonanza’ for the Darjeeling people, as much as it was an indication of how much “Sikkim owes to Darjeeling by heart and mind.”
The SDF president announced special packages for the business community of Rangpo, along with total employment for youths of the area in the government as well as private sectors.He said government schools will be upgraded and brough on a par with public schools.He further announced upgradation of 50,000 houses and laptops for panchayats.He also announced 10000 ‘home stay’ and 1000 tourist centres in the state. Chamling appealed to the public to cast their vote in the assembly elections to KK Thatal, the SDF candidate from West Pendam.
