Child rights mela organised

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 29 April 2014: The Darjeeling District Childs Rights NGO Network, organised Child Rights Mela 2014 in Kalimpong. A two days programme was inaugurated today by the chief guest Punit Yadav, Distict Magistrate at Mela Ground. The programme is organised by the body a federation formed by 23 NGOs supporting child rights. The mela is organised aiming at creating awareness on Child Rights and its related issue with an effort to empower children and capacitate them with knowledge on child rights so that all children are within the safety net of the society.
Father Stephen, Radhika Iyer, SDO Kalimpong and Ganga Gurung Chairperson of Kalimpong Municipality along with government officials, representatives from various NGOs, schools were present in the programme.
DM Yadav also released a book titled "Vadhyata vadhyata" on child rights.
The programme highlighted issues related to child rights and protection, violence against women, human trafficking and social developments. Presentations included short skits, dance, songs and others.
