Sikkim chief secy sent on leave

SNS, Gangtok, 11 March 2014"The Election Commission has reportedly sent Sikkim chief secretary R Ongmu on a month-long leave with immediate effect. She will be replaced by Alok Shrivastava, the incumbent Assistant Residence Commissioner of Sikkim House, New Delhi.
The decision comes at a time when Mrs Ongmu’s handling of affairs has come under disapproval from political parties, who even demanded her transfer during the elections.
The 1979 batch IAS officer is the wife of minister DN Takarpa and she had taken charge as the Sikkim’s first woman Chief Secretary in March last year.
Asish Shrivastava, Director General of the Election Commission of India, confirmed that Mrs Ongmu has gone on leave and that the commission will replace her with another chief secretary at the earliest.
A formal notification from the commission regarding the decision is, however, awaited.
