DDUDF accuses TMC of tyranny

DDUDF Mirik convenor Tilak Prakash Rai
Deep Milan Pradhan, EOI, Mirik, 15 March 2014: Mirik branch of Darjeeling Dooars United Development Foundation has condemned the state government for issuing arrest warrants against top GJM leaders including Bimal Gurung and Asha Gurung just ahead of the LS polls.
Speaking to the reporters DDUDF Mirik convener Tilak Rai said it is totally undemocratic of TMC government to issue arrest warrants because GJM is not supporting it in the LS elections. He alleged the issuing of warrants and arresting GJM leaders again and that too just ahead of the Lok Sabha elections exposes its oppressive attitude towards the Gorkha community.
“Supporting someone purely depends on one’s thought, but the Bengal government is behaving in a tyrannical way by launching raids and arresting leaders when the elections are at the doorsteps” Rai asserted.
“The TMC government is misusing the police to issue warrants, arrest and intimidate people, but all these will never give them the Darjeeling LS seat.” Asserting the government to end the autocratic behaviour, the DDUDF leader alleged the government is mocking democracy and trying to terrorise the hills and its people.
In the meantime, the DDUDF today held a meeting here and elected its conveners for Singbulli, Ghayabaree, Phuguri, Seyok, Bunklung, Murma, Krishnanagar and other areas under Mirik block.
Tilak Rai further informed by March 21 DDUDF’s women and youth wings will also be formed in these places and on March 30 a mass rally and meeting will be held in Mirik Bazzar. He also claimed DDUDF founder and independent candidate Mahendra P Lama will win this year's elections by over 60% votes.
