Adhir sees ‘truth’

TT, March 18: State Congress president Adhir Chowdhury said today that there was “some truth” in Bimal Gurung’s allegation that the Mamata Banerjee government could kill him like Maoist leader Kishen was gunned down.
“Bimal Gurung's allegation about the threat to his life is not baseless. There is some truth in it,” he told journalists at the state Congress headquarters, Bidhan Bhavan, in Calcutta.
North Bengal development minister Gautam Deb said in Siliguri today that Gurung’s comment was a “joke”. “If he continues to make such statements, we will have to think of legal steps. The matter has been conveyed to our leaders in Calcutta, seeking their suggestions,” said Deb.
The minister also said the state government would regularly audit the funds allotted to the GTA Sabha.
