Peace Rally For Safety And Protection Of Media
Voice of Sikkim, 9 Feb, Gangtok : Today the Press Club of Sikkim PCS hosted a Peace Rally in Gangtok of tiny Himalayan State of Sikkim.
The media in the state has been reportedly being attacked by miscreants and anti-socials to curb the fourth pillar of democracy Press Freedom. The sage of brute forces behind the attack has continued to make press house as well as the press staff insecure.
To strengthen the democracy so that such incident don’t occur, the Press Club of Sikkim, awakened citizens, social organizations today carried a Peace Rally demanding safe guard of Media and Freedom of Expression.
The rally which started from Taxi Stand in Deorali ended up at Paljor Stadium which carried series of slogans, place cards, banners mentioning press safety in the hands of participating volunteers.
Speaking to the gathering the PCS General Secretary Shri Joseph Lepcha seek for a safety of journalists as well as the media houses in the state.
The PCS thanked everyone for their valuable time and energy for participating in today’s peace rally, PCS also thanked the police for the security cordon during the rally along the route.
