Shrinivas sworn in as 17th Chief Justice of Sikkim

SNS,Gangtok, 7 January 2014: The Governor of Sikkim, Mr Shrinivas Patil administered the oath of office to Mr Justice Narendra Kumar Jain as the 17th Chief Justice of the High Court of Sikkim at Ashirwad Hall of Raj Bhawan here today. 
Mr Justice Narendra K Jain had earlier sworn in as the Judge of the Sikkim High Court on 30 September last year following the retirement of the Chief Justice, Pius C Kuriakose. 
He was in charge of the Sikkim High Court as the Acting Chief Justice. 
The notification regarding the elevation issued by the Office of the President of India, designating Justice Jain as the Chief Justice was read out by K C Barfunga, the registrar general, High Court of Sikkim. 
Justice Jain prior to joining Sikkim High Court as the Judge was the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Rajasthan for a period from 14 December 2012 to 2 January 2013. 
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by the members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, Speaker, Sikkim Legislative Assembly, the judges of the High Court of Sikkim, MLA’s and the senior officials aside from the senior advocates and Bar Council members. 
However, the chief minister, Mr Pawan Chamling was not present since he is right now in New Delhi. A cabinet minister. Ran Bahadur Subba represented the state government on the occasion.
