Gurung threatens to transfer GTA’s casual workers

SNS, Kurseong, 1 December 2013: The Gorkha Jan Muskti Morcha (GJMM) chief, Mr Bimal Gurung lambasted and cautioned the casual workers of the GTA and the people, who have been joining other parties in the Hills. It was learnt that Mr Gurung yesterday addressed a meeting at Garidhura in the Kurseong sub-division area, in which, he cautioned those people and the casual workers who have joined the TMC and the GNLF party.
His speech revealed that he and the GTA is the boss of all that he surveys in Darjeeling Hills and that he could do anything. Mr Gurung said the state representatives have already told that the GTA is an autonomous body and accordingly, nothing can be initiated in the Hills without the consent of the GTA. Hence, the Opposition should not and cannot challenge him. "The GTA will still be run by us for the next four years. Those causal workers working under the GTA who have been joining other parties should understand that their transfers can be done to remote areas of Darjeeling Hills, including in regions where one will find plenty of poisonous snakes around Jamuni in Darjeeling.”
He said that in this region of Garidhura there are a lot of snakes who may bite but that he is not interested to feed milk to them. He said several measures have already been taken by the GTA to develop Rohini region but if stirs and controversies keep on going there he will within three months stop all development and accordingly, instead of Rohini road he will give importance to other roads like Pankhabari and Dodhia-Bungkulung.
In his speech, Mr Gurung again reiterated that he has sacrificed his crown and chair for the Gorkha Community and its final aspiration but now he has realised that it was a mistake since most of the people are actually rather interested only in making money through roads and drains.
