2 minor girls from Kalimpong area rescued

TNN, 21 December 2013, MANALI: Kullu police on Friday rescued two trafficked minor girls, from Kalimpong area in Darjeeling in West Bengal, from Anni and arrested a person in this connection. 
An FIR was lodged with Kalimpong police by the family members of the girls on October 23, 2013. 
Kullu police suspected that the accused, Meheshwar, a resident of Ghaner village in Kullu, was hiding somewhere in Anni. He was arrested on Friday. The accused had shifted to Dharampur in Solan district two month back and arrested when he returned to Anni. 
"He came back to Anni just three days back and was staying in a house near Anni town, where police detained him for interrogation," Kullu police chief Vinod K Dhawan said. Both the girls have been rescued and moved to a safe place under the security of women police, he added. 
"The girls are being counseled and the West Bengal police have been informed. The girls would be sent for a medical examination to ascertain physical assault or rape during the custody of the accused."
