SHRP say no official word yet on merger with Cong

SNS, Siliguri, 14 November 2013: The north Bengal development department has planned to build the chief minister’s bungalow within the premises of the mini-secretariat for north Bengal, which is under construction on a war footing to meet the deadline.
The area, which was earmarked only for setting up the mini-secretariat, has been expanded on the eastern side for the construction of the chief minister’s bungalow, staff quarters, power station, engineering section and water treatment house for CM’s ‘mini Writers’ Buildings’ for north Bengal..
The north Bengal development minister, Mr Gautam Deb, yesterday visited the site and reviewed the progress of the construction of the main building so that it can be inaugurated in January 2014 ahead of upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Notably, the main building for the mini-secretariat is being constructed on the land of the housing board and another plot of land, where Basundhara Satellite Township was setup, has been handed over to the chief minister’s office..
A plot of land, where there are several abandoned buildings which were not distributed during the Left regime, has been earmarked for the construction of the chief minister’s bungalow, staff quarters, power house, water treatment plant and engineering section for the CM’s mini-secretariat. Addressing the Press, Mr Deb claimed 20 departments would function here. Several officials of 20 departments under the leadership of joint secretaries will carry out jobs here keeping in touch with Writers’ Buildings in Kolkata..
Mr Deb, during his visit yesterday, rebuked a section of officials, who are responsible for construction job, for using inferior quality materials in the building..
In reply, the concerned official said that they were ready to face a test of the materials used in the building and would replace materials if it was proved poor in laboratory test report. Though it was decided earlier that a helipad would be setup in the mini-secretariat compound, the project was dropped. The earmarked area will be used for a landscape in which a lotus pond will be made.
