Madman’s mayhem in Mirik town

SNS, Kurseong, 20 November 2013: Throughout the day, Mirik witnessed the acts of mad man as he caused mayhem in the streets of this small town that quickly spread panic and fear among the public.

It was later learnt that a cook of a Mirik based school, first created bedlam in the school itself by attacking the authority with a sharp weapon (bamphak).He came out of the school after the ghastly assault and later came to the streets thereafter which he attacked another person on the road.

Again a little later, he entered the local SBI branch, where he ransacked its properties and attacked anyone who came in his way by the sharp 'bamphak'.

After several efforts by the locals and police, the person was brought under control and has now been arrested.

As per police sources, inquiry into the matter is on to know the facts behind the attacks. Police say that the arrested might be mentally disturbed.

Meanwhile, those injured have been rushed to Mirik Hospital for first aid but three people are reported to be grievously wounded.
