Hearing on Tamang’s bail plea deferred

SNS, Darjeeling , 9 October 2013: The hearing regarding the bail plea of the GTA chief executive, Mr Binay Tamang, was deferred till tomorrow in one of the cases slapped against him.
The case where the petition for bail would be taken up tomorrow is related to his alleged connection with the arson at Rimbick Lhodoma police station.
Mr Tamang who is still behind bars has two cases pending against him ~ the other being an old case linked to the GJMM’s maiden stir for Gorkhaland following its inception in 2007. However, the court today granted bails to six GJMM activists who had been arrested after the GJMM renewed its statehood stir at the end of July.
Providing details, the defense lawyer Mr Seshmani Pradhan, said the bail appeal of Mr Tamang would be taken up tomorrow.
Among the six GJMM members who have been granted bail today are Mr Pramod Srimal, Mr Narayan Pradhan, Mr Amrit Yonzon, Mr Sishir Rai and Mr Lalit Rai.
