SNS, Kurseong, 29 October: The Communist Party of Revolutionary Marxists (CPRM) stated that the state government should dismiss all the court cases filed against the agitators during the GJMM-led Gorkhaland movement in consonance with the article 29 of the GTA Act.
A senior party leader and spokesperson, Mr Govind Chettri, said this is what the pledge undertaken by the state government warrants.
Asked whether the senior GJMM leader, Mr Binay Tamang would act on his threat to resort to an indefinite hunger strike in jail from tomorrow, he said he has no idea.
“But if he embarks on protest fasting it would be a good thing,” he added.
Mr Tamang said while in a court yesterday that he along with other GJMM activists now behind bars would go for an indefinite hunger strike from 30 October, demanding their immediate release.
However, doubt persists as regards the threat as Mr Tamang did not act on his earlier threat of going for fasting.
Even the GJMM president, Mr Bimal Gurung’s exhortation to the jailed leaders and activists to stage fasting protest in August fell on deaf years.
